A message from our Board Chair, Tee Noland
Dear Boys & Girls Clubs of Athens Supporters,
As a valued partner of our organization, I would like to take this opportunity to let you know that our Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mike Hackett, has made the decision to retire in 2022. On behalf of our board of directors, we would like to thank Mike for his 19 years of dedication and service to Athens’ youth. During his tenure and under his leadership, Boys & Girls Clubs of Athens have recognized significant growth - from new state-of-the-art Clubhouses to the continued delivery of high impact and relevant programming focused on academic achievement. Today, our organization is stronger than ever with a dynamic, engaged board of directors and a solid financial base.
We are extremely appreciative of Mike’s leadership and contributions, and excited about our future as we continue to execute our five-year strategic plan that began in March 2020. Currently, we are partnering with Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s Executive Talent Acquisition team in the search for a new CEO to lead our organization forward. Although this process is well underway, Mike has agreed to remain with the organization through 2022 to ensure a smooth transition of leadership once the new CEO is in place and has fully completed the onboarding process.
Strategic funding that has been committed over the next five years will enable us to significantly expand our workforce readiness programming as we prepare our teen members for great futures and successful careers. Boys & Girls Clubs of Athens look forward to a bright future, and we greatly appreciate your continued support. Our commitment to you, our youth members, their families, and our community remains steadfast and unwavering.
Best, Tee Noland, Board Chair
A message from our CEO, Mike Hackett
Dear Friends of Youth,
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Athens has never been stronger than today! Our Programs are impactful, our Board is engaged, our finances are strong, and our staff are dedicated and committed. And, by the way, we have the best, brightest, most talented, and fun-loving members than any Club in the nation!
As we look forward to the next phase of our organizational growth, I believe the time is right for the next generation of executive leadership to take my place and provide the Club with the continued guidance needed to move our organization forward and to take on new challenges and opportunities.
The Board and I have developed a transition plan and I look forward to supporting the board and more importantly the new CEO in 2022.
Meanwhile, I look forward to spending more time in my new house in the Lake Oconee area and taking my RV on the road to experience the splendor of our scenic country.
I have faith and confidence that each of you will continue to support our Club and our members.
Yours in Service, Mike Hackett, CEO
